Lean Style Liner Notes_||||||

Lean Style: A style of creation based on limited resources. Use and re-use is a fundamental principle. As are Making Due, Raw Aesthetic and DIY.

This album was originally released in 2004 with very limited distribution. We had Braz go back and write up liner notes on the project so the listener may better understand his thoughts and influences while recording this music. He documents it's successes as well as it's flaws.

Ellis was a character created by Braz. Not having one part of the equation has never stopped the Discolobos or Brasby in the past. And in 2003 he wanted to record a one producer, one MC hip hop album. Unable to find a reliable emcee to record, determination took over and Ellis was born. The name comes from a then 15 year-old kid named Ellis that would follow Discolobos into the back entrance of clubs and drink Sherly Temples at the bar. Braz locked himself in his room and crafted beats and rhymes with a steady cascade of cheap whiskey over ice. You'll notice Ten High Entertainment gets a mention in the credits, a nod to the Sour Mash Ten High whiskey often fueling these sessions.

You can buy this album at iTunes and we hope you do. Just search "Lean Style", it's there. Download the three page liner notes and check out some of the motivations behind the songs. Below is the video for One Man Setup.
